Mckayla Wilkes – Charles County Commissioner District 3

Mckayla Wilkes was a founding member of our chapter during her 2020 congressional primary run and has worked tireless through Schools Not Jails and Life After Release to end the school to prison pipeline, and advocate for over-incarcerated populations.
Her platform is focused on making sure our school system is fully funded, stopping tech billionaires from exploiting our community’s health through data centers, and addressing housing insecurity through rent stabilization and building affordable public housing.

Evan Smith – MD House of Delegates District 28

Evan Smith has been a member of DSA since joining his college’s YDSA chapter in 2022. Since moving to Southern Maryland he has quickly become a crucial part of our chapter’s cadre, consistently showing up and helping with the Right to Strike Campaign and MD-05 Pressure Campaign.
His platform focuses on finally delivering on Southern Maryland Rapid Transit, Green New Deal policies, opposing data centers, supporting the rights of workers, divesting from Israel, and protecting Maryland’s immigrant population from Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
